Statement
On photography, after fifty years.
Making images for almost fifty years with every format under the sun — large format film, 35mm rangefinder, digital. The camera changes; the looking does not.
What I am after, mostly, is quiet — the moment a place stops performing for the visitor and becomes itself again. A street the morning after rain. The small dignity of an ordinary doorway. Light no one was watching for.
I travel to keep my eye honest. I come home to Brooklyn to stay in practice. The hope is that the work, taken together, is a record of paying attention — and an invitation to younger photographers to do the same, and to take care of the world they are looking at.

Streets & ceremony
Black-and-white Brooklyn, Lunar New Year on Mott Street, Tribeca after dark, the medina in Marrakech. The civic and the everyday, photographed at the same patient distance.
Commissions
For agencies, brands, & publications.
I work with advertising agencies, design firms, magazines, hospitality groups, tourism teams, and direct clients on travel-capable assignments: campaigns, editorial features, image libraries, location stories, and place-brand projects.
The value is a point of view, not just coverage. Five decades in the field, a technical photography background from RIT, and the ability to travel light, move quickly, and return with images that feel specific to the place.

Workshops · Brooklyn
A three-hour walking tour, taught on the move.
Pick a neighborhood; we walk it. Composition, the zone system, seeing in low light — the kind of teaching that only really happens with a camera in your hand and the city in front of you. Three generations of Brooklyn behind the lens.
Bring your own gear, or borrow mine. What you shoot with isn't the most important part.

Prints & Reproduction
Made by hand, on archival paper.
Reproductions of any image in the archive are available — on archival paper, canvas, or aluminum — at sizes from intimate to wall-scale, framed or unmounted.
To purchase, write with the gallery, image, and size you have in mind. Each print is made to order.
Off-frame
Handcrafted furniture, by the same hand.
When I'm not photographing, I build wood furniture under the name Brooklyn Bowls — bowls, boards, and small heirloom pieces shaped slowly by hand. The studio practice and the camera practice come from the same place.
